What obstacles lie in the way for terraforming Mars?

Mostly the lack basic materials to work with; Mars' soil contains oxides, but it would be very energy-intensive to break them down for use in the atmosphere. And, once the atmosphere has been 'created', Mars won't be able to keep it because weak gravity and lack of magnetic field will allow the solar wind to literally blow it away.
